Bid guidelines to host WIPC:E 2011
The WIPC:E 2008 organising committees have developed the following guidelines for delegations wishing to submit a bid to host the next World Indigenous Peoples’ Conference: Education due to be held in 2011.
The selection panel will consist of members from previous WIPC:E organising committees.
The WIPC:E 2008 Committee ask that a formal letter of intent outlining your delegation’s plan to host WIPC:E 2011 be submitted by 31st July 2008.
Full submissions should be with the 2008 organising committee no later than 30th September 2008.
Your bid should include:
- A description of your intended plan and how your organisation/committee envisions WIPC:E 2011 within your ancestral homeland and your unique Indigenous cultures.
- Background information that outlines the historical context of Indigenous education in your country.
- An outline of how hosting WIPC:E will support Indigenous education in your country and assist in improving the education experiences of Indigenous people.
- A description of the legacy your organisation/committee intends to leave to the World Indigenous Peoples’ Conference: Education at the conclusion of WIPC:E 2011.
- A list of the names and addresses of you Bid Committee members and a description of their backgrounds including their nationality. The majority (if not all) of the members should be Indigenous. This should not be interpreted as a policy of excluding non-Indigenous people; rather it is an argument for Indigenous self-determination and the attendant issues of privilege and responsibility.
- Evidence of your organisation/committee’s capacity to host the event, including supporting documents that reflect community and other resources available to your delegation; including any financial support.
The selection committee will review submissions and meet during WIPC:E 2008. The WIPC:E 2011 site will be announced at the Closing Ceremony on the 11th of December 2008.
